Not long after the warbands seize and neutralize the defensive hub of Antoninus Extremis more ships start arriving at the system frontier. Mechanicus forge ships, Death Guard plague vessels, a lone Dark Angel strike cruiser, and other unidentifiable craft arrive in short order to pursue their own aims within the Antoninus system. Your own command ship finds that the light of the Astronomicon is totally obscured and seemingly while ships can still arrive to this warzone none can leave.
While supremacy on Antoninus Extremis is of the utmost importance there are more worlds in this system that may hold precious plunder and more clues to the mysterious circumstances that have befallen the Antoninus system. With the immediate danger of a dagger in the back from the Antoninus Extremist anti-void weapons mitigated some of your rivals are pushing deeper into the system.
The next planet on the way to the solar core is Antoninus Sanctus, a shrine world built on the barren frozen rock of the system's penultimate world. This world was home to millions of Ecclesiarchy and Administorum personnel and should have valuable caches of supplies and more importantly information.
Where will you plant your flag? Do you make one of the moons of Antoninus Extremis your own and become a piratical reaver as other forces spread out or do you push onward in search of resources and answers?
This week is critical for the campaign in that you have lots of options. I'm hoping for the campaign to become more free form as each person works to find their own destiny in the Antoninus system. You may choose one of the following as your mission for this stage (Feb 15-29). Your game that 'counts' for your campaign progress no longer needs to be your first game but you should decide before the game that you are playing your main game for the week. Honor system!
- Warhammer 40,000: Crusade (page 62 from CA: 2019). Use a 500 point force that is either a battalion or patrol detachment. If you have more strategic resource than your opponent you can choose to be attacker of defender (instead of rolling). This will represent you seizing territory on your own moon or Antoninus Sanctus. If you win this match let me know and I'll work out the consequences with you.
- Kill Team: Recover Intelligence (page 58 from the core book). This represents you trying to discover the fate of the defenders of Culabre. Winning this will grant you a strategic resource and unlock storyline clues that you can choose to share or not with your fellow players.
- Kill Team: Ambush (page 53 from the core book). This will represent your kill team trying to seize the initiative and deal a decisive blow to a superior force. Whoever has less strategic resource is the attacker. If the attacker wins they gain 2 strategic resource and if the defender wins and is counting this as their main game they gain 1 strategic resource and their kill team leader gains an extra 2 experience.
